February 22 (SeeNews) - Romanian president Klaus Iohannis has signed a decree appointing two new government ministers - for regional development and transport, respectively, the president's office announced.
Vasile-Daniel Suciu is the new minister of regional development, while Razvan Cuc was appointed transport minister, the decree published on the website on Thursday evening showed.
Suciu, a former journalist, is currently deputy secretary general of the governing Social Democratic Party, while Cuc will head the transport ministry for the third time. He previously served there in 2017 in the Grindeanu and Tudose cabinets.
President Iohannis has refused PSD's nominations for the two portfolios on three occasions, starting in November - the time of a large-scale government reshuffle.
At the time, Iohannis said that he is refusing to endorse the appointment of labour minister Lia Olguta Vasilescu as new minister of transport and of former business and entrepreneurship minister Ilan Laufer as minister of regional development. A month later, he explained the rejection, saying that the two nominees lack the necessary skills to run the respective ministries.
