November 12 (SeeNews) - Romania's unemployment rate rose to 4.1% of the workforce in October from 3.9% in the previous month, the national employment agency, ANOFM, said on Monday.

Last month, the northeastern county of Vaslui had the highest unemployment rate in Romania, 9.7%, while the Ilfov county, in the south, had the lowest unemployment rate of 1.6%.
The average unemployment rate in the EU newcomer fell to a 14-year low of 5.4% in 2006 from 5.8% in 2005. Romania's workforce is estimated at 9.3 million out of population of 21.6 million. Romania joined the EU in January.
