February 23 (SeeNews) - Romania's M3, the broadest gauge of the country's money supply, increased by a nominal 9.1% year-on-year in January, reaching 309.8 billion lei ($71.9 billion/68.5 billion euro), slowing down from a 9.7% advance in December, the country's central bank, BNR, said on Thursday.
On a monthly comparison basis, Romania's M3 money supply dropped 1.4% in January, BNR said in a statement.
In real terms, January M3 money supply was 9% higher on the year and 1.2% lower on the month.
Romania's M1 rose 19.6% on the year to 177.7 billion lei last month, after posting a 20.4% annual growth in December.
Net foreign assets grew by an annual 30.1% in January, reaching 143.4 billion lei, while net domestic assets dropped 4.2% to 166.3 billion lei.
