January 27 (SeeNews) - Romania's M3, the broadest gauge of the country's money supply, grew by a nominal 9.7% year-on-year to 419.5 billion lei ($94.6 billion/87.3 billion euro) in January, compared to a 10.9% increase in December, the central bank, BNR, said on Tuesday.
On a monthly comparison basis, Romania's M3 money supply fell 0.7% in January, BNR said in a statement.
In real terms, January M3 was 5.8% higher on the year and was 1.1% lower on the month.
Romania's M1 rose 16.7% on the year to 272.2 billion lei last month, compared to 17.8% in December.
Net foreign assets jumped 13.5% in January, reaching 197.8 billion lei, while net domestic assets rose by 6.4% to 221 billion lei.
