August 25 (SeeNews) - Romania's Libra Internet Bank posted on Thursday a 25 million lei ($6.3 million/5.6 million euro) net profit in the first half of 2016, up 100% from the previous year.
Net assets rose 41% to 2.86 billion lei, the bank said in a press release.
Deposits reached 2.54 billion lei, up 43% on the year, while loans amounted to 1.72 billion lei, up 46% on the year.
"The favourable results are due to the increase in the bank's traditional business lines - corporate, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and agribusiness professionals, but also on the digital banking sector, where we plan to develop new products and innovative services for online customers ," CEO Emil Bituleanu said.
In 2015, Libra Internet Bank posted a 24 million lei profit, recovering from a 4.2 million lei loss in the previous year.
Libra Internet Bank has a network of 46 branches in Romania, serving mostly customers working in liberal Professions, SMEs, corporate and agribusiness.
