October 31 (SeeNews) - Romania's unemployment rate dropped to 5.0% in September from 5.1% in August, the national statistical office, INS, said on Tuesday, citing provisional data.
Compared to September 2016, Romania's jobless rate was 0.6 percentage points lower.
The number of unemployed in Romania decreased to 462,000 in September, from 465,000 in August and was below the level of 510,000 registered in September 2016, INS said in a statement.
The jobless rate among women was 3.7% versus 6.0% among men in September.
The unemployment rate among adults aged between 25 and 74 was estimated at 4.2% in September 2017. The number of unemployed aged between 25 and 74 accounted for 77.2% of the total number of unemployed in September.
Romania's workforce is estimated at about 9.0 million out of a population of some 19.7 million.
