November 2 (SeeNews) - The number of tourists staying in Romania jumped 45.5% on the year to 7.5 million in the first nine months of 2021, the statistics board, INS, said on Thursday.
Tourists spent 14.7 million overnights in Romania in January-September, up 45% year-on-year, INS said in a statement.
In September alone, the number of tourists staying in Romania jumped by an annual 35% to 1.07 million, while overnights jumped 25% on the year, to 2.39 million.
The new data includes the impact of the Covid-19 crisis and of the measures taken by the authorities to curb the spread of the virus. At the time of the research, some 475 units were closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, INS added.

The number of tourists staying in Romania fell by 52.3% on the year to 6.335 million in 2020.
