December 3 (SeeNews) - Romania's retail sales rose by a seasonally and working-day adjusted 1.9% year-on-year in the first ten months of 2020, the statistical office, INS, said on Thursday.
Also on an adjusted basis, sales of food, beverages and tobacco rose 5.9%, non-food sales rose 4.7% and sales of fuels were down 8.5% during January-October compared to the like period of 2019, INS said in a statement.
Based on unadjusted data, retail sales rose 2% on the year in the first ten months of 2020.
In October alone, Romania's retail sales increased by an adjusted 5.7% year-on-year, after rising 3.7% the month before. On a monthly comparison basis, retail trade turnover rose by an adjusted 1.8% in October, after rising 1.7% in September, the data indicated.
The figures do not include trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles.
