December 12 (SeeNews) - Romania's energy output rose by 4.8% year-on-year in the first 10 months of 2017, the national statistical office, INS, said on Tuesday, citing provisional data.
The country's energy production totalled 17.6 million tonnes of oil equivalent (TOE) in the January-October period, INS said in a statement. Energy imports amounted to 10.6 million TOE, up 4.6% on the year.

Romania's electricity output and imports fell to 55.5 TWh in the first 10 months of 2017, down 2.6% year-on-year.
In the 10 months through October, Romanian thermal power plants generated some 22.7 TWh of electricity, up 7.6% on the year, while the output of hydro power stations fell 26.7% to 12.1 TWh.
The output of the country's sole nuclear power plant rose 2.2% on the year to some 9.51 TWh in the review period.
Wind farms generated 6.13 TWh, up 19.8%, and solar plants produced 1.77 TWh, up 4.1%, in the first ten months of 2017.
Final electricity consumption fell by an annual 0.1% to 45.27 TWh in the period January-October.
Romania’s electricity exports fell by 20.1% year-on-year to 5.47 TWh in the first 10 months of 2017.
The country produced 2.86 million TOE of crude oil, down 5.5% on the year, and 3.87 million TOE of coal, up 13.4% on the year in January-October. Natural gas production increased 11.8% year-on-year, reaching 6.84 million TOE.
In 2016, Romania's energy production fell by 7.2% to 20.47 million TOE.
TOE is the rounded-off amount of energy that would be produced by burning one metric tonne of crude oil.
