Romania's retail sales increased by 2.2% last year.
Retail sales in November were below Erste Bank's expectations, as sales of non-food items were unusually weak in the context of Black Friday campaigns. Also, Internet sales stabilized at low levels in recent months close to 4% year-on-year after double-digit growth rates in 2020 and in the first half of 2021, Erste said in an analysis on Friday.
"Consumers’ mobility towards retail centres fell abruptly between mid-September and early-November according to Google data, as infection rates soared and green certificate became mandatory for non-essential activities. Second half of November brought a very small increase in mobility which offered almost no help to sales of durables," Erste added.
