January 11 (SeeNews) - Romania's energy output fell by 1.3% year-on-year in the first eleven months of 2018, the statistical office, INS, said on Friday.
Romania's January-November energy production totalled 19.2 million tonnes of oil equivalent (TOE), INS said in a statement. Energy imports amounted to 12.3 million TOE, up by 4.7% on the year.
Romania's electricity output and imports totalled 61.24 TWh in the first eleven months of 2018, up 0.2% on the year.
In January-November, thermal power plants generated some 23.9 TWh of electricity, down by 5.6% on the year, while the output of hydro power plants rose by 27.7% to 17.02 TWh.
The production of the country's sole nuclear power plant fell by 1.6% on the year to some 10.35 TWh in the review period.
Wind farms generated 5.87 TWh, down by 10.8%, and solar plants produced 1.62 TWh, 10.9% lower on the year, in the first eleven months of 2018.
Final electricity consumption rose by an annual 2% to 61.2 TWh during the period under review.
Romania’s electricity exports fell by 12.2% year-on-year to 5.14 TWh through November.
The country produced 3.08 million TOE of crude oil, down 1.5% on the year, and 3.89 million TOE of coal, down by 9.3%, in the first eleven months of 2018. Natural gas production edged down 0.1% year-on-year, reaching 7.57 million TOE.
In 2017, Romania's energy production rose by 4% to 21.30 million TOE.
A TOE is the rounded-off amount of energy that would be produced by burning one metric tonne of crude oil.
