In July alone, Romania issued 3,056 building permits, of which 69% were for projects in rural areas, INS said in a monthly report.
Residential building permits issued in July declined by an annual 21% but inched up by 1.3% on a monthly basis.
Non-residential permits totalled 548 in July, up by an annual 4% but 4.5% less than a month earlier.
With the exception of Romania's centre region, residential building permits issued in July decreased on an annual basis in all regions.
INS provided no figure for the value of the projects that were granted permits.
