September 12 (SeeNews) - Romania's energy output rose by 3.5% year-on-year in the first seven months of 2017, the statistical office, INS, said on Tuesday.
The country's energy production totalled 12.26 million tonnes of oil equivalent (TOE) in the January-July period, INS said in a statement. Energy imports amounted to 7.04 million TOE, up 3.6% on the year.

Romania's electricity output and imports totalled 39.4 TWh in the first seven months of 2017, down 2.2% on the year.
In the seven months through July, thermal power plants generated some 16.21 TWh of electricity, up by 12.9% on the year, while the output of hydroelectric power stations fell 26.5% to 9.24 TWh.
The production of the country's sole nuclear power plant rose 3.8% on the year to some 6.49 TWh in the review period.
Wind farms generated 4.28 TWh, up by 16.9%, and solar plants produced 1.21 TWh, 1.5% higher on the year, in the first seven months of 2017.
Final electricity consumption fell by an annual 1.2% to 31.8 TWh in January-July.
Romania’s electricity exports fell by an annual 10.5% year-on-year to 4.16 TWh in the seven months through July.
The country produced 2.01 million TOE of crude oil, down 5.5% on the year, and 2.66 million TOE of coal, up 14.4% on the year in the first seven months of 2017. Natural gas production increased 7.8% year-on-year, reaching 4.71 million TOE.
In 2016, Romania's energy production fell by 7.2% to 20.47 million TOE.
TOE is the rounded-off amount of energy that would be produced by burning one metric tonne of crude oil.
