April 3 (SeeNews) - Romania's retail sales grew by a seasonally and working-day adjusted 10.1% year-on-year in the first two months of 2020, the statistical office, INS, said on Friday.
Also on an adjusted basis, sales of food, beverages and tobacco rose 10.5%, non-food sales increased 9.9% and sales of fuels were up 9.8% compared to the like period of 2019, INS said in a statement.
Based on unadjusted data, retail sales climbed 12.5% on the year in the first two months of 2020.
In February alone, Romania's retail sales increased by 10.5% year-on-year, after growing by 9.4% the month before. On a monthly comparison basis, retail trade turnover rose by an adjusted 0.8% in February, after growing by 3.5% in January, the data indicated.
The figures do not include trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles.
