September 30 (SeeNews) - Romania issued 34,215 building permits for residential projects in January-August, up 30% year-on-year, the national statistical office, INS, said on Thursday.
During August only, Romania issued 4,873 building permits, of which 69% were for projects located in rural areas, INS said in a monthly statement.
The regional distribution shows an decrease in the number of construction permits released for residential buildings, compared to August 2020, in central, Bucharest-Ilfov area, northwest, western, southwest Oltenia and southeast regions.
In the south-Muntenia, northeast, and central regions, the number of building permits was higher on the year in August.
INS provided no figure for the value of the projects which were granted permits.
Romania issued 41,311 building permits for residential projects in 2020, down 2.9% year-on-year.
