October 5 (SeeNews) - Romania's energy output through August fell by an annual 2.6% to 15.789 million tonnes of oil equivalent (TOE), the National Statistics Institute (INS) said on Friday.
Energy imports fell by an annual 3.2% in the period to almost 11.376 million TOE, INS said in a statement.
A TOE is the rounded-off amount of energy that would be produced by burning one metric tonne of crude oil.

Electricity generated in Romania and imports totalled 40.59 billion KWh in the period, down by 2.7% on the year, as domestic power production fell by 3.3%.
Exports of electricity in the first eight months of 2007 fell by 41.1% year-on-year, or by a net 1.47 billion KWh.
