June 6 (SeeNews) - Romania's retail sales rose by a seasonally and working-day adjusted 3.1% year-on-year in the first four months of the year, the national statistical office said on Tuesday.
Sales of food, beverages and tobacco increased by an annual 4.7% during the January-April period, non-food sales rose 3.7% and sales of fuels were down 1.3%, the statistical office, INS, said in a statement.
Based on unadjusted data, retail sales climbed 3.4% on the year between January and April.
In April alone, Romania's retail sales decreased by an adjusted 1.5% year-on-year.
As against the previous month, the adjusted retail turnover volume in April decreased by 3.7% due to 2.8% lower sales of non-food products, 2.4% lower sales of food, beverages and tobacco products, and 6.4% lower sales of automotive fuels. The figures do not include trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles.
