March 13 (SeeNews) - Romania’s consumer prices rose by 15.52% on the year in February, compared to an annual increase of 15.07% in January, the national statistical office, INS, said on Monday.
The average inflation rate over the last 12 months was 14.9%, INS said in a statement.
Food prices jumped by 22.35% year-on-year in February, while non-food prices added 12.73%. Prices of services grew by 10.38%.
On a monthly comparison basis, Romania’s consumer price index (CPI) edged up by 0.98% in February, as food prices rose by 1.85%, non-food prices inched up by 0.45% while prices of services increased by 0.70%.
On February 9, Romania's central bank, BNR, said that it decided to keep its monetary policy rate unchanged at 7%.
