January 13 (SeeNews) - Abu-Dhanbi based renewable energy company Masdar will collaborate with Romanian hydropower producer Hidroelectrica on projects for energy production from renewable sources, Romanian energy minister Virgil Popescu said on Friday.
The two companies have already started technical discussions for joint projects, Popescu said in a social media post, without elaborating.
Government-controlled Abu Dhabi National Energy Company, PJSC, also known as TAQA, is also interested in the development of energy transportation infrastructure projects in Romania, Popescu added.
"We discussed joint actions in the field of energy, such as the operationalization of new natural gas transport routes from the Gulf area, LNG import, renewable energy production and the development of safe and sustainable energy technologies with the aim to increase energy efficiency and the use of hydrogen in the energy mix," Popescu said following a visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In June, Popescu said that Romania is interested in importing liquefied natural gas (LNG), crude oil and petroleum products from the UAE in order to reduce its dependence on Russian fossil fuels.
