August 19 (SeeNews) - Romanian electric installations company General Meel Electric has won a 10.26 million lei ($2.44 million/ 2.08 million euro) contract to build a 3 MWp solar power plant for local combined heat-and-power plant Uzina Termoelectrica Midia (UT Midia), UT Midia said
The photovoltaic plant at the existing site of UT Midia in Navodari, Constanta county, will have 9,086 solar panels and 28 power inverters, UT Midia, which is owned by KMG International and the Romanian state, said in a tender notice published on Wednesday.

UT Midia invited companies to express interest in the project in April. At the time, the project's cost was estimated at 15.83 million lei.
General Meel Electric was founded in 1993 in Baicoi, Prahova county and employs 120, according to its website.
Established in 2001, UT Midia's main activity is the production and transport of thermal energy and the production and sale of demineralized water. The company is owned by the Romanian state through the energy ministry with 56.58%, while the rest is owned by international oil company KMG International, part of Kazakhstan's KazMunayGas.
The main brand of KMG International is Romanian company Rompetrol, which is focused on refining, petrochemicals and retail activities in Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria and Georgia, and well services in the upstream area.
