September 7 (SeeNews) - Romania's economic output increased by 13% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2021, compared to a 10% contraction in the like quarter of 2020, non-adjusted provisional data of the country's statistical board, INS, indicated on Tuesday.
The data confirms earlier flash estimates.
On a seasonally adjusted annual comparison basis, Romania's gross domestic product (GDP) rose 13.6%, INS data showed.
Final household consumption volume expanded by an annual 8.1% in the second quarter of the year, INS data showed.
The agricultural sector's output fell by an annual 3.4%, while gross fixed capital formation increased by 12% in the second quarter. The industrial sector's output rose 18.8%, while construction rose by an annual 1%.
Imports of goods and services rose by an annual 40.4 % in the second quarter of 2021, while exports rose by 40.3%.
Compared to the previous quarter, GDP grew by 1.8% in the second quarter of 2021.
Overall, in the first half of 2021 Romania's GDP rose by an annual non-adjusted 6.5% and by a seasonally-adjusted 6.2% year-on-year.
Romania's economy contracted by 0.2% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2021, compared to 2.4% annual growth in the like quarter of 2020.
The country's economic output will increase by an estimated 7% in 2021, finance ministry analysts said in August, revising their previous forecast for 5% growth.
Romania's economy contracted by 3.9% in 2020, compared to a 4.1% expansion in the previous year.
