October 14 (SeeNews) - Romania's foreign debt increased to 135.2 billion euro ($156 billion) at the end of August 2021 from 126.8 billion euro at the end of 2020, the central bank, BNR, said on Thursday.
The end-August figure includes 99.04 billion euro in long-term foreign debt, up from 93.5 billion euro at the end of 2020, BNR said in a monthly balance of payments report.
Long-term external debt service ratio fell to 16.4% in August, compared to 20% at end-2020.
Goods and services import cover stood at 5.3 months at end-August, from 5.6 months at end-2020.
The ratio of the BNR’s foreign exchange reserves to short-term external debt by remaining maturity decreased to 89.4% at end-August, from 90.3% at end-2020.
