November 11 (SeeNews) - Romanian online retailer eMAG said on Monday it will open its second showroom in the central-western city of Sibiu on November 14, as part of its national offline expansion plan.
The 500 sq m showroom will be located in Promenada Mall and will display over 1,000 products, eMAG said in a press release.
"We opened this new showroom for our customers, who can now find us even easier. The team of consultants is prepared to provide details and recommendations for a wide range of products and we believe the showroom will become an anchor for the mall," eMAG retail director Silviu Gugui said.
eMAG is currently present with 15 showrooms in the Bucharest, Timisoara, Constanta, Iasi, Ploiesti, Craiova, Galati, Pitesti, Cluj-Napoca, Brasov, Sibiu and Oradea.
The online retailer was founded in 2001 by Romanian entrepreneurs, and later expanded in Bulgaria, Hungary and Poland. South Africa-based Naspers media group acquired a 70% stake in eMAG in 2012.
In October, Hungary's anti-trust body approved the merger of the local unit of eMAG with its Budapest-based peer Extreme Digital. As a result of the merger, eMAG is expanding to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia and Austria.
