November 7 (SeeNews) - Romanian online retailer eMAG said on Monday it expects to sell items worth a total 639 million lei ($130 million/131 million euro) to Black Friday shoppers on November 11.
Sales will be supported by a 4.3 million euro ($4.29 million) investment in servers, hosting and cloud services, eMAG said in a press release.
The retailer also invested 43 million euro investment in logistics automation to speed up deliveries.
Last year, eMAG booked 609 million lei in Black Friday sales.
A Kantar Romania research indicates Romanians who intend to make a purchase on Black Friday have a medium budget of 2,500 lei, according to eMAG.
"Given inflation and the pressure on family budgets, people have increasingly turned to promotions. This is why interest in Black Friday is growing," eMAG CEO Tudor Manea said.
EMAG was founded in 2001 by Romanian entrepreneurs and later expanded in Bulgaria, Hungary and Poland.
The online retailer booked a consolidated turnover of 9.57 billion lei in 2021, out of which 5.68 billion lei were achieved on the Romanian market.
