March 3 (SeeNews) - Romania’s E-Distributie, part of Italy’s energy group Enel, said it invested some 106 million lei ($22.9 million/21.5 million euro) in upgrades of high voltage power grids and primary substations last year.
The investments focused on the construction of new power lines and modernisation of underground and overhead lines and primary substations, E-Distributie said in a press release on Thursday.
"Despite an extremely difficult year, we continued to make investments in infrastructure and focused on several key projects to ensure the continuity of distribution services. Therefore, we focused on the high-voltage infrastructure, with impact and benefits for the other distribution segments as well," Monica Hodor, general manager of E-Distributie companies, said.
The projects were financed out of the company's own funds and targeted assets in the Bucharest, Ilfov, Dobrogea and Banat regions. E-Distributie operates networks spanning 133,000 km and covering a third of Romania's electricity distribution market.
In November, E-Distributie’s parent group Enel said that it would sell its Romanian assets in 2023 and concentrate its European operations on Italy and Spain.
