July 12 (SeeNews) - Romanian car maker Automobile Dacia said on Tuesday its global sales rose 5.9% year-on-year to 277,885 units in the fist half of 2022, in a market heavily marred by the pandemic and electronic components crises.
Sales of the Sandero model rose by an annual 1.8% in the first six months of 2022, to 112,000 units, while sales of the Duster range were up 5.5% on the year to 99,000 units, Dacia said in a press release.

The brand's new electric city car Spring and 5-and 7-seater family vehicle Jogger sold 20,000 units and 21,700 units, respectively.
Within the scope of its distribution coverage, Dacia increased its market share by 0.8 points to 3.9% in January-June, despite a market contraction of 14.6%.
"The growth of Dacia's sales despite a steeply declining market confirms the relevance of its positioning built on the best value for money on the market. Electric and LPG ECO-G versions accounted for almost half of all orders in the first half of 2022, reflecting Dacia's push to advocate for a smarter way of consuming automobiles," Dacia SVP marketing, sales and operations Xavier Martinet said.
More than 5,000 orders per month were made for the Spring model in the first half of the year, while Jogger, the 5-and 7-seater family vehicle, saw an order intake of more than 50,000 for the first six months of 2022.
