January 14 (SeeNews) - Romania's consumer prices rose by 2.06% year-on-year in December, compared to an annual increase of 2.14% in November, the national statistical office, INS, said on Thursday.
Food prices rose 3.24% year-on-year in December, while non-food prices added 1.01%, INS said in a statement.
Prices of services grew by 2.69%.
On a monthly comparison basis, Romania's consumer price index (CPI) rose by 0.34% in December, as food prices were 0.29% higher, non-food prices added 0.51% and prices of services edged up by 0.04%.
The average consumer price inflation over the last 12 months was 2.6%, compared to the previous 12 months.
On November 12, Romania's central bank decided to keep its monetary policy rate unchanged at 1.50% and to cut the minimum reserve requirement ratio on foreign currency-denominated liabilities of banks. The central bank expects end-2020 inflation of 2.1% and 2.5% inflation at the end of 2021, according to its latest report issued in November.
