February 7 (SeeNews) - Romania's city of Cluj-Napoca said it has signed a contract worth 1.7 million euro ($1.8 million) with local architecture firm KLX Studio for the design of a science campus at Babes-Bolyai University.
The contract was signed following an international tender held last year, the Cluj-Napoca town hall said in a press release last week.
The science campus will have a total area of 6.48 hectares, including 3.48 hectares allocated to a science center, an urban market, and sports fields.
"The future of the city no longer lies in the heavy industry, but in the knowledge economy, based on education and science, " Emil Boc, mayor of Cluj-Napoca, was quoted as saying.
