BUCHAREST (Romania), January 17 (SeeNews) – Romanian Internet software security company Bitdefender said on Tuesday it has bought French software developer and distributor Profil Technology for an undisclosed sum, as part of a plan to grow its business in the enterprise sector.
The acquisition is Bitdefender's biggest so far and will consolidate the company's position on the French, European and global markets, the company said in a press release.

A long-time partner of Bitdefender on the French market, Profil Technology is specialized in the development, publishing, and distribution of software solutions and has 50 employees. Bitdefender, present in France since 2001, has become a powerful player in the retail sector of cyber-security solutions, by controlling a third of the software solutions purchased by French consumers in stores. Also, it protects more than one million computers of companies active in the public sector as well as education, healthcare and financial services sectors in France.
"France is a key market for us. By taking over our business in-house, we will be closer to partners and customers. We intend to replicate in the enterprise sector the success we've had in the segment of individual consumers, by relying on the technological superiority of our products in order to gain the leader's position", Bitdefender CEO Florin Talpes said in the press release.
In 2016, the Bucharest-based company established local presence in Italy and Sweden as part of its global expansion plan. Bitdefender more than doubled its partner network in the past two years.
Bitdefender was founded in 2001 by Romanian entrepreneur Florin Talpes and his wife Mariuca and is currently represented through subsidiaries and partners in over 100 countries. Its products include anti-virus and anti-spyware solutions, devices anti-theft systems and backup for corporate and home users.
