March 2 (SeeNews) - Romania's Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR) Group, part of Austria's Erste Group, said that its net profit rose 23.8% year-on-year in 2022, reaching 1.74 billion lei ($376.7 million/354.7 million euro).
The rise in profit was supported by an improved operating result underpinned by continued strong loan growth, BCR Group said in a press release on Tuesday communicating its unaudited consolidated results for 2022.
Net interest income grew by 21.7% on the year to 2.94 billion lei during 2022, while net trading result increased 64.3% to 630.1 million lei. Net fee and commission income increased by 8.8% to 944.2 million lei.
The non-performing loan (NPL) ratio decreased to 2.8% at end-December from 3.9% a year earlier, while NPL coverage ratio was 171.4% at end-December.
Loan volume grew by 15.6% year-on-year to 55.38 billion lei in 2022, while deposits rose 4.3% to 75.58 billion lei.
BCR Group comprises lenders Banca Comerciala Romana and BCR Banca pentru Locuinte, BCR Pensii, BCR Leasing IFN and BCR Chisinau.
