BUCHAREST (Romania), July 21 (SeeNews) – Romania's Banca Transilvania [BSE:TLV] said on Thursday it has increased its share capital by 620 million lei ($153 million/139 million euro), by issuing 620 million shares with a nominal value of 1 leu.
Following the increase, the bank’s share capital amounts to 3.64 billion lei, it said in a statement filed with the Bucharest Stock Exchange, BVB.
Banca Transilvania's net profit rose by an annual 50.8% to 228.5 million lei in the first quarter, helped by an increase in operating efficiency. Its operating income rose 10.7% on the year to 599.1 million lei in January-March.
At the end of March, the bank's assets amounted to 46.12 billion lei, of which net loans amounted to 25.5 billion lei, up 1.5% from end-2015.
In March, the bank said it will distribute 1.2 billion lei in cash dividend for last year.
Blue chip Banca Transilvania is the largest Romanian privately-owned bank. It posted a record profit of 2.42 billion lei for 2015, a fivefold rise on the year.
In January, Banca Transilvania wrapped up a merger with Volksbank Romania (VBRO), which it bought from Osterreichische Volksbanken AG, Groupe BPCE, DZ Bank AG and WGZ Bank AG.
Banca Transilvania shares were down 1.38% to 2.15 lei on the BVB at 1526 CET on Thursday.
