February 25 (SeeNews) - Romania's Banca Transilvania [BSE:TLV] said on Friday its net profit rose by 49% year-on-year in 2021, reaching 1.782 billion lei ($402 million/360 million euro).
The bank's operating income rose by an annual 10.4% to 4.348 billion lei last year, Banca Transilvania said in a statement filed with the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
At the end of 2021, Banca Transilvania's assets totalled 125 billion lei, up from 103.3 billion lei at the end of 2020.
Net loans increased to 46.3 billion lei at end-2021, compared to 40.4 billion lei a year earlier, while deposits from customers reached 102 billion lei, compared to 88 billion lei at the end of 2020.
Non-performing loans accounted for 2.71% of Banca Transilvania’s total loan portfolio at end-2021, while their coverage with related provisions and mortgage collaterals remained at a comfortable level of 166% and in line with the bank’s risk appetite.
Banca Transilvania Group, which also comprises Moldovan lender Victoriabank, BT Leasing Transilvania IFN, BT Direct IFN, BT Microfinanţare IFN, BT Leasing MD and BT Asset Management, posted a net profit of 2.045 billion lei in 2021, up 44% year-on-year. Group assets totalled 132.5 billion lei at the end of 2021, up from 107.5 billion lei at end-2020.
Blue-chip Banca Transilvania is the largest Romanian privately-owned bank.
Banca Transilvania's shares traded 1.73% higher at 2.6450 lei on the Bucharest Stock Exchange as at 1156 CET on Friday.
