October 5 (SeeNews) - Romania issued 5,572 building permits for residential projects in August, up 4.9% from a year earlier, the country's statistics board (INS) said on Friday.
The number of issued permits for residential projects was 0.8% lower than in July, INS said in a statement.
As much as 62.9% of the total number of permits issued in August was for projects in the country's rural areas, according to INS data.
In the first eight months of 2007 the number of permits for residential buildings rose by 20.7% to 37,137 on the year.
INS gave no figures for the value of the projects granted permits.
