September 30 (SeeNews) - Romania's unemployment rate inched up to 5.2% in August, from 5.1% in the previous month, the national statistical office, INS, said on Thursday, citing provisional data.
On an annual comparison basis, Romania's jobless rate was 0.1 percentage points lower in August 2021, INS said in a statement.
There were 428,000 unemployed people in Romania in August, up from 420,000 in July.
The jobless rate among women was 4.8% versus 5.5% among men.
The unemployment rate among adults aged between 25 and 74 was estimated at 4.4%. The percentage of unemployed people aged between 25 and 74 in the total number of unemployed was 78.6% in August.
Romania's workforce is estimated at about 9 million out of a population of some 19.5 million.
