September 19 (SeeNews) - Romania's annual inflation was the highest in the European Union in August, the bloc's statistical office said.
Romania posted an annual inflation rate of 4.1% in the eighth month of 2019, the same as in July, Eurostat said in a monthly inflation report published on Wednesday.
Among the other EU member states in Southeast Europe, Bulgaria and Slovenia had annual inflation of 2.5% and 2.4%, respectively - above the EU average of 1.4%.
Inflation in Croatia and Greece was below the EU average - at 0.6% and 0.1%, respectively.
