May 13 (SeeNews) - Romania's annual consumer price inflation accelerated to 4.1% in April, from 4% in the previous month, the national statistical office said on Monday.
Food prices rose 4.98% year-on-year in April, while non-food prices increased 3.66%, INS said in a statement.
Prices of services grew by 3.83% in April.
On a monthly comparison basis, Romania's consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.61% in April, as food prices added 0.68%, non-food prices grew by 0.53%, and prices of services rose 0.72%.
The average consumer price inflation over the last 12 months as compared to the previous 12 months was 4.3%, INS said.
In February, Romania's central bank (BNR) raised its annual inflation forecast for 2019 to 3% from 2.9%, within its target band of 1.5-3.5%.
On April 2, BNR maintained its monetary policy rate at 2.50%.
The central bank last changed its key rate in May 2018, increasing it to 2.50% from 2.25%.
