February 25 (SeeNews) - The deposits of the non-governmental sector in Romanian banks grew 9.5% on the year to 331.4 billion lei ($79 billion/69.6 billion euro) in January, compared to an annual increase of 9% in December, the central bank, BNR, said on Monday.
Leu deposits increased 6.2% year-on-year to 219 billion lei in January, after growing by 6.8% in the previous month, BNR said in a monthly monetary statistics report.
Foreign currency deposits increased by 16.7% on the year to 112.4 billion lei in January, after growing by 13.6% in December.
