September 23 (SeeNews) - The deposits of the non-governmental sector in Romanian banks grew 15.5% on the year to 449.9 billion lei ($107 billion/91 billion euro) in August, compared to an annual increase of 15.3% in July, the central bank, BNR, said on Thursday.
Leu deposits increased 16.1% on the year, reaching 291.7 billion lei in August, compared to a 16.4 growth in the previous month, BNR said in a monthly monetary statistics report.
Foreign currency deposits increased by 14.2% on the year to 158.2 billion lei in August, after growing by 13.3% in July.
