June 27 (SeeNews) - The deposits of the non-governmental sector in Romanian banks grew 9.1% on the year to 336.6 billion lei ($71 billion/81 billion euro) in May, compared to an annual increase of 9.9% in April, the central bank, BNR, said on Thursday.
Leu deposits increased 6.6% year-on-year to 221 billion lei in May after growing by 7.2% in the previous month, BNR said in a monthly monetary statistics report.
Foreign currency deposits increased by 14.1% on the year to 115 billion lei in May, after growing by 15.5% in April.
