March 23 (SeeNews) - The deposits of the non-government sector in Romanian banks grew 8.5% on the year in February, to 522 billion lei ($115.3 billion/106 billion euro), after rising 7.2% in January, the central bank, BNR, said on Thursday.
Leu deposits increased 13.2% on the year in February, reaching 347.4 billion lei, compared to the 10.1% annual growth rate in January, the BNR said in a monthly monetary statistics report.
Foreign currency deposits inched up 0.1% on the year to 174.6 billion lei in February, after expanding by 2.1% the month before.
