March 23 (SeeNews) - The value of deposits made by the non-government sector in Romanian banks grew 8.6% on the year to 272.1 billion lei ($64.3 billion/59.6 billion euro) in February, accelerating from an annual rise of 8.0% in January, the central bank, BNR, said on Thursday.
Leu deposits increased 11.3% year-on-year to 185.5 billion lei in February, after growing 9.6% in the previous month, BNR said in a monthly monetary statistics report.
Annual growth in foreign currency deposits decelerated from 4.7% in January to 3.2% in February, when they totalled to 86.6 billion lei.
