June 26 (SeeNews) - The value of deposits of the non-government sector in Romanian banks grew 9.1% on the year to 279.5 billion lei ($68.3 billion/61.2 billion euro) in May, decelerating from an annual rise of 10.2% in April, the central bank, BNR, said on Monday.
Leu deposits increased 10.5% year-on-year to 190.55 billion lei in May, after growing 12.0% in the previous month, BNR said in a monthly monetary statistics report.
The annual growth of foreign currency deposits decelerated from 6.5% in April to 6.3% in May, when they totalled 88.97 billion lei.
