January 23 (SeeNews) - The value of deposits of the non-government sector in Romanian banks grew 10.4% on the year to 302.8 billion lei ($79 billion/65 billion euro) in December, decelerating from an annual rise of 11.4% in November, the central bank, BNR, said on Tuesday.
Leu deposits increased 9.4% year-on-year to 206 billion lei in December, after growing by an annual 10.2% in the previous month, BNR said in a monthly monetary statistics report.
The annual growth rate of foreign currency deposits fell from 14.1% in November to 12.7% in December, when they totalled 96.7 billion lei.
