July 27 (SeeNews) - The value of Romania's agricultural output fell by 15.4% year-on-year to 81.4 billion lei ($19.5 billion/ 16.5 billion euro) in comparable prices in 2020, mainly due to a strong drop in plant production, the country's statistical office INS said, citing preliminary data.
Plant production value fell by an annual 21.5% in 2020, while livestock production and agricultural services fell each by 1.2% on the year, INS said in a press release on Monday.

The share of plant production's value in the total value of agricultural output was 64.9% in 2020, down 5.1 percentage points year-on-year. Livestock production accounted for 32.9%, up 4.9 percentage points compared to 2019.
Agricultural services value had a share of 2.2% in the total value of agricultural production last year.
The share of cereals output value in the total value of plant production for 2020 decreased by an annual 7.6 percentage points, while the share of vegetable oil-bearing plants was 0.8 percentage points lower on the year, data showed.
Increases in the share of livestock production value for 2020 were recorded in sheep and goats, products obtained from milk processing on the livestock farm, and cattle.
The share of poultry production value in the total value of livestock output in 2020 was 1.4 percentage points lower compared with 2019, while that of pig production was 0.5 percentage points lower, INS data showed.
