June 7 (SeeNews) - Romania's Agricover Credit IFN opened a new branch in the city of Brasov and plans to provide loan financing of over 100 million lei ($25 million/ 20 million euro) to more than 250 local farmers in the area in the coming period, it said.
The branch is Agricover's first in central Romania and its 10th in the country, the company said in a press release on Friday.

"We want a greater openness to the of small and medium farmers segment, but we continue to support large farmers as well. In this regard, we have prepared special solutions and programs such as: investments for the acquisition of agricultural land and support for the expansion of farms and irrigation systems," Agricover Credit IFN general manager Robert Rekkers said.
According to Rekkers, the central area of the country has great potential for potato growing and organic farming, as well as in the livestock sector.
Eatablished in 2008, Agricover Credit IFN is a non-banking institution specialised in providing financing to the local agricultural sector. Its majority shareholder is Agricover Holding Group with a 99.99% stake.
