February 6 (SeeNews) - Romania's retail sales rose by an unadjusted 4.4% year-on-year in 2022, the national statistical office said on Monday.
The statistical office did not provide seasonally and working-day adjusted yearly figures.
Sales of food, beverages and tobacco increased by an unadjusted annual 1.4% during 2022, non-food sales rose 4.5% and sales of fuels were up 9.6%, the statistical office, INS, said in a statement.
In December alone, Romania's retail sales increased by an adjusted 3.8% year-on-year.
As against the previous month, the adjusted retail turnover volume in December rose 1.4% due to due to higher sales of automotive fuel in specialised stores (7.7%) and of non-food products food (1.0%). The sales of food, beverages and tobacco decreased by 0.4% on the month.
The figures do not include trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles.
