April 20 (SeeNews) - Romania's road infrastructure company CNAIR said that a consortium comprised of local companies SA&PE Construct and Tehnostrade signed a 146.5 million lei without VAT ($32 million/29.6 million euro) contract for the design and construction of a road bridge over Siret river.
The companies are expected to build a new road bridge at Cosmesti, in the eastern county of Galati and a passage over the railway, on a different route than the current one, CNAIR said in a press release on Tuesday.
The bridge should be built in 24 months, including twelve months for the design phase, with an additional 120-month warranty period.
The contract is financed through external non-reimbursable grants.
In March 2021, CNAIR awarded the contract to Italian tie-up Operes- Cosedil, which later gave it up due to a strong increase in steel prices, according to local media.
SA&PE Construct is a company established in Bacau in 2013, which had 12 employees at end-2020 according to latest data available on the finance ministry website.
Part of the UMB Group, owned by local businessman Dorinel Umbrarescu. Tehnostrade was established in 2004 and employed 1,600 at the end of 2020, according to data from the finance ministry website.
