June 9 (SeeNews) - Romania’s road infrastructure company, CNAIR, and a consortium comprising local companies DP Consult, Explan and Geologic Site signed a 21.1 million lei ($4.6million/4.3 million euro) contract for a feasibility study for the construction of a segment on the Filiasi-Lugoj expressway, a senior CNAIR official said on Friday.
The expressway spans 230 km in southwestern Romania and the consortium must complete the feasibility study for the Filiasi-Drobeta Turnu Severin segment within 18 months, Cristian Pistol, director general at CNAIR, said in a social media post.
The deal represents one of four contracts for feasibility studies for the Filias-Lugoj expressway.
Financing for the feasibility study was secured through Romania’s Transport Porgramme, which comprises non-refundable EU funds as well as a national contribution, according to latest data from the country’s ministry for investments and European projects.
DP Consult was founded in 1997 and offers consulting and design services relating to roads, bridges and civil engineering works. At end-2022, it booked a net profit of 209,643 lei, on a 7.2 million lei turnover and employed 26 people, latest data from the finance ministry reveals.
Explan is a civil engineering company founded in 2004. In 2022, it booked a net profit of 534,322 lei, on a 10 million lei turnover, while employing 16 people.
Founded in 2008, Geologic Site provides geotechnical services. In 2021, it netted a profit of 6.3 million lei, while turning over 19.3 million lei and employing 32 people.
