March 17 (SeeNews) - Romanian stock indices mostly rose on Thursday while turnover more than doubled, data from the Bucharest Stock Exchange, BVB, indicated.
The bourse's total equity turnover surged to 49.4 million lei ($12.5 million/ 11 million euro) from 20.5 million lei on Wednesday.
Three block deals with shares of Banca Transilvania [BSE:TLV] generated Thursday's largest turnover of 30.9 million lei. In regular trading, blue-chip lender Banca Transilvania [BSE:TLV] rose 6.02% to 2.64 lei after the bank announced that it is going to distribute 1.2 billion lei in cash dividend for last year and issue free shares worth 620 million lei.
The bank has been skipping dividend since 2009, when it paid out a total of 50 million lei to shareholders.
Further during the trading day, blue chip investment fund Fondul Proprietatea [BSE: FP] lost 0.52% to 0.7660 lei in the second-largest turnover of 4.37 million lei.
Blue-chip oil and gas group OMV Petrom [BSE:SNP] added 0.78% to 0.2530 lei in the day's third-largest turnover, of 3.48 million lei.
