August 21 (SeeNews) - The share indices of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, BVB, built on their gains from a day earlier to close the week higher on Friday amid low liquidity and quiet trading, brokers said.
The blue-chip BET index of the BVB closed 2.56% higher at 4,146.84 points. The BET-FI, which tracks the country’s five regional investment funds, the SIFs, jumped 3.08% to 20,811.82 points.
The composite BET-C index rose 2.1% to 2,493.13, and the ROTX index of Romania's 15 most liquid stocks, a joint index of the BVB and the Vienna Stock Exchange, climbed 2.78% to 8,710.43.
BVB’s turnover fell to 14.2 million lei ($4.8 million/3.4 million euro) on Friday, including 2.2 million lei worth of bonds, from 26.3 million lei on Thursday. The number of traded shares decreased to 22.3 million from 26.1 million on Thursday.
SIF 5 Oltenia ended up 3.74% at 1.11 lei in Friday’s largest turnover of 2.8 million lei. Blue-chip bank BRD ended 3.45% higher at 12.0 lei on deals worth 1.6 million lei, the session's second highest turnover.
Erste Bank, the first foreign stock trading on the BVB, jumped 3.16% to 117.4 lei in the day’s third largest turnover of 1.3 million lei. The bourse's other blue-chip lender, Banca Transilvania, advanced 4.44% to 1.41 lei in deals worth 691,000 lei.
Blue-chip oil and gas group Petrom rose 0.77% to 0.262 lei on deals worth 1.0 million lei, and blue-chip gas transmission company Transgaz climbed 2.53% to 162 lei in 435,000 lei turnover.
SIF 2 Moldova was up 3.33% to 0.93 lei in 1.05 million lei turnover, while SIF 3 Transilvania rose 2.68% to 0.575 lei in deals worth 542,000 lei. SIF 1 Banat Crisana ended 2.56% higher at 1.0 lei in 450,000 lei turnover.
Drug maker Zentiva SA shed 0.72% to 0.69 lei in 469,000 lei turnover.
The BET-XT index, which tracks the 25 most liquid companies on the bourse, including the SIFs, gained 2.72% to 402.10 points. The BET-NG, which includes companies from the energy sector and utilities, added 1.5% to 542.57 points.
Rasdaq-C, the composite index of the over-the-counter market RASDAQ, edged 0.12% down to 2,087.82. Turnover on the RASDAQ increased to 1.3 million lei from 753,000 lei on Thursday.
